North Carolina Awarded Prosperity Cup for State With The Best Business Climate in the U.S.

The state of North Carolina was awarded the prestigious 2021 Prosperity Cup by Site Selection magazine, recognizing the most competitive state based on project, capex and job creation data. North Carolina moved up the business climate rankings from #6 in 2020 to #1 in 2021.

The annual award recognizes the state-level organizations with the most successful business recruitment and retention efforts in the past year. This year’s top award is shared by the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) and the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

Included in North Carolina’s success is the Charlotte Region’s Centene Corporation $1-billion East Coast headquarters and tech hub that will ultimately create 6,000 new jobs in Charlotte.

The Charlotte Region was also recognized for its leadership in the Life Sciences sector. In the 2021 Life Sciences Emerging Markets Index by Jones Lang LaSalle IP, Inc. (JLL), the Charlotte Region was named the most attractive market for life sciences professionals.
